Kenmode Reports Top Ten OEM Demands for Metal Stampers in New E-book

Kenmode Precision Metal Stamping has published a new eBook that outlines the top ten OEM demands of metal stamping suppliers, based on annual surveys of customers in a cross-section of industries and independent research on U.S. manufacturing trends. The new eBook is available for free download: Top Ten OEM Demands and Decision Points for Selecting Precision Metal Stampers.

The top ten OEM demands are, in order: best price, top quality, on-time delivery, engineering depth, a single source, global competitiveness, flexibility, the latest technology, financial stability, and acting as a true partner, rather than just a supplier.

In the Kenmode customer surveys, when asked, “What do you want or need from a precision metal stamping company?” OEM respondents most often cited a combination of price, quality and delivery, which represent the top three demands.

“Manufacturers of complex products must deal with hundreds of suppliers and all the variables involved with each component. Although metal stampings may seem small, any problems can lead to costly production delays and product malfunctions. On the positive side, a good metal stamping firm will help the OEM improve the part design in order to reduce overall costs and increase reliability,” said Kurt Moders, president of Kenmode. “We survey our customers every year so that we can understand the changing needs of OEMs and respond with the services they value most.”

The new e-book includes detailed information on the top ten demands as they relate to precision metal stampings, as well as manufacturing trends reported by the Boston Consulting Group and the MIT Forum for Supply Chain Innovation, and metal stamping industry benchmarks from the Precision Metalforming Association. U.S. suppliers are seeing the economics swing in their favor, as U.S. productivity has improved and the cost advantage of overseas outsourcing has diminished. As a result, OEMs are bringing more manufacturing back to the U.S. and looking for U.S.-based suppliers of precision metal stampings and other components. The e-book offers specialized insights into the precision metal stamping process, as viewed from the OEM’s standpoint.
