Precious metals are often used in metal stamping as a plating or coating on stamped parts. Designing a stamping process that conserves the precious metal is critical due to its high cost and at times limited availability.

Palladium

  • Excellent conductor of heat and electricity
  • Does not tarnish

Platinum

  • Extremely resistant to tarnishing and corrosion
  • Soft and malleable

Silver

  • Best conductor of electricity
  • Will tarnish
