Steel Stampings

Steel Characteristics

Steel is one of the most popular materials used in metal stamping and can take on many different forms, properties and finishes, offering optimal strength, performance and cost-effectiveness.

Hot-rolled Steel

  • Cost-effective

  • Strong, durable, and dense

  • Capable of holding up under stress of constant use

  • Commonly selected for use in applications where appearance is not important

Cold-rolled Steel

  • Cost-effective
  • Highly adaptable
  • Suitable for a variety of circumstances, from simple to more challenging applications
  • Available in high-strength grades that have high load-bearing capabilities
  • More controlled surface quality

Stainless Steel

  • Resistant to extreme temperatures and corrosion
  • Available in a variety of grades, including 304L, 316L, and other stainless steels
  • Dependable strength
  • Ease of manufacturing
  • Attractive aesthetic appearance

High Tensile Steel

  • Contains low amounts of carbon but additional alloying ingredients improve durability, malleability, and ductility
  • Resistant to extreme temperatures and corrosion
  • Can be quenched or treated to improve hardness

Low Carbon Steel

  • Comes in a variety of grades
  • Commonly used in applications requiring high levels of corrosion resistance
  • Ductile and easily machined and welded

Medium Carbon Steel

  • Commonly alloyed with other metals to enhance strength, toughness, and wear resistance

High Carbon Steel

  • Contains highest amount of carbon
  • Stronger than low and medium carbon steel
  • Can be heat treated to further enhance hardness

Spring Steel

  • Often used in a soft or annealed state to allow for more severe and intricate forming
  • Can be heat treated and coated to enhance spring properties and corrosion resistance
  • Available in several grades
